Hello, divas!

As you know—and hopefully are looking forward to—Lover’s Day is around the corner. This is the perfect opportunity to dive into this topic as someone who has been in these situations.

The short answer? Yes.

If you are currently dating or seeing someone (and by “dating,” I mean he has expressed interest in you, you’ve been on a couple of dates, spent time together, and are getting to know each other—but he hasn’t asked to be exclusive), then this is the perfect opportunity for him to show genuine interest and make it official.

If he doesn’t acknowledge this day and gives you an excuse like, “I don’t celebrate it,” then he’s probably not that into you.

Now, for the newbies—those in a talking stage for less than a month—it’s not expected to be over the top (though that’s always welcome!). However, a small gesture can reinforce his intentions and show he’s serious about getting to know you.

Let’s dive into some ideas on how you can spend Lover’s Day this year if you’re in a talking stage.

Now, depending on what you’re looking for and how long the talking stage has lasted, expectations will vary. Personally, I always want the best, and I love feeling special. I appreciate both grand gestures and small ones—it all depends on the delivery, the person, the connection, and the meaning behind it. The first step is knowing what the other person likes and dislikes.

1. Flowers

.

Every woman loves flowers. It’s a small gesture that lets her know you see her and are into her. It doesn’t have to be a fancy bouquet, 100 roses, or 1,000 white roses—although I personally wouldn’t mind getting some (but that’s beside the point!). Flowers work every time, and they’re a great choice. Adding a small note makes it even more romantic

2. Thoughtful Gift

Is there something she’s mentioned she likes? Does she love reading? Did she say she lost her AirPods? Is there a bag or brand she adores? There you go. Get her that. Thoughtfulness goes a long way.

3. Dinner

If you’re planning to ask her to be exclusive, then dinner is the perfect setting. A nice, warm dinner, some wine, good conversation—just relax and enjoy the moment.

If you’ve already been on multiple dates, this shouldn’t feel overwhelming or like too much.

Ultimately, what you decide to do (or not do) will reflect how much you like this person and the means available to you. Every woman has her own standards, and knowing the person you’re dating is the key to making it a great day.

While some women will settle for a simple “Happy Lover’s Day” text, others will want more.
